ATB
ATB is the largest grocery retail chain in Ukraine. It works as a discounter: everyday essentials, low prices and stores within walking distance. The chain runs several store formats in parallel, from its classic blue supermarkets to the modernised black ones with updated interiors and a wider range of services.

Information about the project
In July 2026 the chain opened the first store in its new ATB-Home concept: a compact neighbourhood format built around quick shopping trips, where every everyday category fits into a small sales area and customers mostly pay at self-checkouts. The sales floor covers 304 m², the interior is finished in a light grey palette and the ceiling is left open, with no suspended structures.
AVA TECH developed the lighting solution for this format: uniform general lighting across the sales floor, accent lighting for the product categories and decorative light in the checkout area. Seven luminaire types were used on the project.
Tasks
- Illuminance and uniformity in the aisles in line with the chain’s standard
- Accurate colour rendering in the fresh food and delicatessen areas
- Glare control, with the luminaires sitting in the customer’s field of view under an open ceiling
- Installed power per square metre no higher than in the chain’s other formats
Completed work
- Lighting calculations for each zone of the sales floor
- Selection of seven luminaire types sharing one optic and colour temperature
- Luminaire layout coordinated with the shop fitting plan
- Delivery of the equipment to site
Result
- Calculated illuminance levels achieved in the aisles and in the accent areas
- Seven luminaire types working as a single set, with one colour temperature and a consistent visual line across the floor
- Simplified maintenance: a short list of items and interchangeable components
- A single lighting standard for the format, ready for rollout
